Dolores Justus' paintings reflect a sensitive and intuitive view, set within strong and expressive compositions.  Working in oils, acrylics and watercolors, her unending fascination in capturing the essence of a place or moment without overstatement is expressed in the work.  Her pieces are imbued with passion and mystery while bringing us closer to the land we inhabit.

"I've always had a strong identification with nature - the rolls and dips of the land, texture and light on stones, dense shapes of trees, field grasses, and of course, water.   Thoreau once wrote, 'The life is in us like water in the river.'  Every element in nature is unique, yet there is something in it and in us all that we recognize and respond to.  It is those universal aspects that I seek to communicate."  - Dolores Justus

Justus' work has been featured in many solo and group exhibitions throughout the nation.  Notable exhibits include the Arkansas Women in the Arts Exhibit in Washington, D.C., the Delta Exhibition, and Creators/Collectors at the Baum Gallery.  In the Fall of 2005, the Mullins Library at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, showcased Horizon Lines, a solo exhibit of the artist's land and seascapes.  Her work has also included in numerous corporate and private collections.  She is a contributing artist for "200 Great Painting Ideas", published by Northlight Books, and the Artist's Magazine, along with features in many other publications.  She is currently represented by River Market Art Space in Little Rock, Arkansas and Justus Fine Art Gallery in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Justus earned her B.A. in Fine Art from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1988.  At the university, she divided her studies between the art disciplines–painting, drawing, and sculpture–and graphic design. Besides being a professional artist, Justus is also an accomplished designer.  Operating under the name of Justus Design & Marketing since 1989, her strong design and literary skills have been employed in a variety of advertising and commercial mediums.
